Training Goal
The validation process is often overlooked but is vital to the overall planning process and allowing for timely decision making. The Planning Application Fees consultation in 2023 talked about increased monitoring of Development Management Performance – including the time taken to make decisions about application validity. However, hardly any training is available that is dedicated to technical support officers helping them to see the bigger picture and how the processing time could be managed better.
This training is suitable for planning support officers with limited technical planning knowledge; early career-stage planners; and others who want to improve their understanding of the validation process, improve their individual performance and contribute to speed up the determination of planning applications and improve the quality of submission. This CPD is organised by RTPI National Training Team, and is delivered by one of our masterclass Trainers with the relevant senior level experience.
Learning outcomes
- By the end of this short webinar officers will have a better understanding of the systems, processes and tools available for them validating submitted applications
- Improved understanding of the validation requirements and processes will help officers quickly identify emerging problems, work out solutions and make better decisions.
- Clarity on how better teamwork will also reduce the delays in the application processing time, improve the quality of validation and helps eliminating backlogs.
Ticket booking guidance
- RTPI Members have to log into their RTPI account to make the booking
- Bookings for non-members can be done as a group booking by their administrators
- If your organisation is not registered on the RTPI system, it will need to be done by contacting the finance team: finance@rtpi.org.uk
- Invoice bookings are available where the total booking value, is above the threshold of £234, if the organisation is the fee payer
- Credit/Debit card bookings for non-members is available
