Conduct and Discipline Panel Recruitment

The procedures for the Conduct & Discipline Panel are adopted by the Board of Trustees, in accordance with the RTPI's Bye-laws and Regulations. Members of the Panel serve a minimum of three years with the possibility of extending this for a further 3-year term. The Panel normally meets four times a year, two virtually and two meetings in London when all necessary expenses would be reimbursed.

A key role for the Conduct and Discipline Panel lies in deliberating over complaints brought against planners concerning alleged breaches of the Code.  As stated in the official procedures adopted by the Board of Trustees, a member has a right of appeal if found in breach.

Each Appeal Committee consists of three members drawn from the pool of Appeal Committee members and is constituted to hear an individual appeal.  Members might expect to hear one or two appeals each year although this does depend upon the volume of cases. Most appeals are heard through the written procedure although both virtual and in-person hearings are possible. All necessary expenses are reimbursed.
